Class Observation
Classroom observations support educators in gaining a deeper understanding of the unique strengths and needs of the children in their care.
During the observation, the Occupational Therapist (OT) joins the class to observe the group across a range of activities, including both movement-based and seated tasks. Attention is given to how children engage, move, attend, and regulate within the classroom environment.
Following the observation, the OT collaborates with educators to share insights and discuss practical, classroom-based strategies tailored to the needs of individual students and the group as a whole.
Through this collaborative process, educators receive meaningful strategies to support participation and learning. Some children may also be identified as benefiting from follow-up group or individual support, where appropriate.

Ongoing Classroom Consultation
Ongoing classroom consultations provide continued support when classrooms face shared challenges or when individual children require additional guidance.
The Occupational Therapist (OT) begins with a pre-consultation discussion with educators and, where appropriate, parents, to develop a clear understanding of the challenges being experienced.
The OT then conducts an in-class observation, with particular attention to transitions and moments that may be more challenging within the child’s daily routine. During the session, the OT may model or demonstrate strategies to support regulation, engagement, and participation.
Following the consultation, educators are provided with a tailored set of practical strategies that consider both the child’s individual needs and the neurodiversity of the classroom, supporting an inclusive and responsive learning environment.
